Exciting New Hearing Technology this Summer

There has never been a better era for hearing technology. With digital processing becoming increasingly smaller and stronger, hearing loss solutions are becoming more powerful and offering users better, more nuanced sound. This summer there have been several new, exciting developments in hearing technology geared towards helping people with mild to moderate hearing loss. Here’s a look at some of the latest hearing solutions on the market.

Signia Silk Nx

Signia’s Nx line delivers compact performance while improving integrated connectivity to digital devices. For people in search of powerful hearing aid solutions, Signia has proven itself with cutting edge sound management and easy-to-use smart controls.

Silk Nx improves upon Signia’s ready-to-wear Silk design with a sleek new profile and better than ever sound delivery. Silk Nx relies on silicon sleeves to comfortably fit the ear canal, where the hearing aid is almost completely concealed. The positioning of the device in the ear canal allows for more natural sound delivery and is easy to use with phones and over the ear headphones.

The Silk Nx takes advantage of Signia’s cutting edge sound processing, that delivers a natural-sounding approach to prioritizing incoming sound. The power to adjust your hearing aids rests in your hands with integrated remote control through the touchControl App on any smart device.

Nuheara IQBuds BOOST

The IQBuds BOOST from Nuheara straddle the line between premium earbuds and hearing loss support. The product- small, wireless, Bluetooth-equipped, rechargeable ear buds- boast connectivity and hearing assistance with the capability to amplify ambient sound.

IQBuds BOOST capitalize on the power of direct streaming audio to the ear canal. With an easy-to-use Bluetooth connection, IQBuds BOOST can deliver seamless, great-sounding audio directly to your ear. The audio quality of IQBuds BOOST’s delivery makes it a contender for powerful new headphone technology, but it also has an added advantage for those with hearing challenges. Not only can the ear buds deliver powerful sound from entertainment and smart devices, they can also be used to amplify sound to assist people with mild-to-moderate hearing loss.

Reviews of IQBuds BOOST have highlighted that while the ear buds do integrate non-linear sound processing for hearing improvement, they may not be an appropriate replacement for hearing aids. Rather, their strength is in their delivery of streaming sound which can be a boon to people with hearing loss whose hearing aids don’t include streaming technology. The IQBuds BOOST also integrates some great features: they run on rechargeable batteries and include an easy to use charging case, and are waterproofed against sweat and moisture for durability.

Eargo Plus

Silicon Valley startup, Eargo, made a splash this year with their introduction of innovative hearing devices to assist in mild-to-moderate hearing loss. Eargo launched two products, Eargo Plus and Eargo Max that rely on an innovative in-canal shape and design to incorporate natural sound into hearing assistance. Like the Signia Silk Nx, Eargo’s products are ready-to-wear hearing assistance. They use a soft, spoked shape called “Flexi Fibers” to suspend the device in the ear, allowing for the perception of sound both around and through the hearing aid.

Eargo Plus’s design allows bass tones to be heard naturally while adding assistance for higher frequency sounds. While this limits the capacity for  Eargo to help people with low-frequency hearing loss, it can offer a flexible new solution for people who have mild-to moderate hearing issues, and difficulty with high-frequency tones.

Eargo Plus is small enough to be entirely concealed in the canal, offering users a discreet hearing solution. Additionally, Eargo Plus and Eargo Max are rechargeable, eliminating the need for changing tiny replacement batteries while delivering full day performance. While Eargo may limited in the range of what kind of hearing assistance it offers, it incorporates many helpful features and innovative design.
