Wireless Hearing Aid Round-Up

This is an exciting time for hearing aids. There are a number of hearing aids equipped with wireless compatibility available on the market, many of which we offer at Desert Valley. These hearing aids allow wearers to connect to their smartphones and similar electronic devices, which opens up a new world of accessibility.

Here, we’ve rounded up some popular hearing aids with wireless compatibility.

Starkey’s Halo Made for iPhone

Starkey Hearing Technology is the world’s only American hearing aid manufacturer, based in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Starkey won a 2015 Edison Silver Award for the Halo Made for iPhone hearing aid, which utilizes the TruLink Hearing Control app to connect wearers to their phones. This app allows people to stream phone calls, music, and media directly from the iPhone to the hearing aid. Additionally, the Halo improves upon previous features, such as advanced noise reduction technology and precise directional microphones that allow wearers to hear more comfortably in noise; a feedback cancellation system that eliminates buzzing and whistling; and a SoundSpace feature on the TruLink app that allows wearers to personalize their hearing experience.

Oticon Alta2

Oticon is known for their BrainHearing Technology, which equips hearing aids with four major functions to assist the brain in processing sound. The Alta2, Oticon’s most popular model, features all four BrainHearing technologies, which provide wearers with clear sound quality. BrainHearing Technology focuses on speech recognition and identifying the source of sound, which gives wearers a clear sense of their surroundings. The Soft Speech Booster gives wearers the freedom to have quiet, private conversations. With the ConnectLine app, Alta2 hearing aids are capable to connect with smartphones of all stripes, streaming phone calls, video chats, music, and TV.

Siemens binax

Siemens binax hearing aids are perhaps the most powerful – they received the title of the “first hearing aid to outperform normal hearing,” based on two independent studies from universities in Colorado and Germany. The binax family of hearing aids achieves this distinction with their innovative eight-microphone network (four per hearing aid), called e2e. With the touchControl app, Siemens binax hearing aids are wirelessly compatible with smartphones and personal electronic devices. The easyTek app allows wearers to control program settings on their binax hearing aids, adjusting the direction of microphones and also allowing wearers to hone in on specific sounds.

ReSound LiNX2

The Danish manufacturer ReSound has introduced the LiNX2, an improvement on the previous generation of wireless hearing aids that connect wearers to their iPhones. Designed as a made for iPhone hearing aid, the LiNX2 is designed to connect to the phone and to stream calls, music, and media, through the ReSound Smart App. The LiNX2 also has a geo-tagging function that utilizes the phone’s GPS to save wearer preferences in different locations. When wearers return to those locations, the LiNX2 will automatically adjust to those preferences, for a seamless listening experience. The LiNX2 offers a Spatial Sense feature that simulates binaural hearing, so wearers have a comfortable listening experience with the full spectrum of sound.
