Hearing Aid Fittings

Personalized hearing aid selection and fitting verified with real ear measurements.

Getting the Right Fit for Your Hearing Aids

If you've been diagnosed with hearing loss, a proper hearing aid fitting is what bridges the gap between getting a device and actually hearing better. Getting fit by an experienced audiologist means your hearing aids are precisely programmed to your unique hearing loss, your listening environments, and your lifestyle — not just turned on and handed to you.

At Desert Valley Audiology, we fit hearing aids from the leading manufacturers and take the time to make sure every patient leaves with technology that works for them. We also perform Real Ear Measurement (REM) to verify that your hearing aids are delivering the right level of sound in your actual ear canal.

The Importance of Professional Hearing Aid Fitting

When hearing aids are properly fit and verified, they perform the way they were designed to — providing accurate amplification, comfortable sound, and the confidence to engage in the daily conversations and activities that matter.

Precise programming matched to your specific audiogram and lifestyle

Real Ear Measurement confirms accurate sound delivery in your ear canal

Professional aftercare and adjustments support long-term hearing success

Access to the latest technology from all leading hearing aid manufacturers

A hearing aid fitting typically takes one to two hours, including programming, Real Ear Measurement verification, and an in-depth orientation to using and caring for your devices. We take the time to make sure everything is right before you leave.
We work with all of the major manufacturers, including Phonak, Oticon, ReSound, Signia, Starkey, and Widex, across a range of technology levels and price points. Our recommendations are always based on your hearing loss and lifestyle, not brand preference.
Real Ear Measurement (REM) is an objective verification method that uses a small probe microphone to measure sound levels at your eardrum while wearing your hearing aids. It confirms your devices are programmed accurately for your specific hearing loss and ear anatomy.
We offer a 30-day trial period on all new hearing aids, giving you time to experience them in your real-world environments. If the hearing aids are not right for you, they can be returned or exchanged within that window.
Follow-up care is a standard part of every fitting — all new hearing aids include full aftercare and manufacturer warranty coverage through our practice. We will schedule follow-up appointments to fine-tune your settings and answer any questions as you adjust.

Common Questions About Hearing Aid Fittings

Hearing aid fittings come with many questions, especially for first-time wearers. The answers below address what our patients most often want to know before and after their very first fitting appointment at Desert Valley Audiology.

How Hearing Aid Fitting Works

A hearing aid fitting is a multi-step process designed to ensure your devices are precisely programmed to your hearing loss, comfortable to wear all day, and performing well across the real-world situations that matter most to you.

  • Hearing Aid Selection: We review your audiogram and discuss lifestyle, listening needs, and budget to select the right hearing aid.
  • Programming and Verification: We program your hearing aids to your prescription and perform Real Ear Measurement to verify sound delivery.
  • Orientation and Follow-Up: We orient you to your new devices and schedule follow-up visits to fine-tune your programming as you adjust.
