A Smaller Hearing Aid That Still Handles Noisy Rooms

One of the hardest parts of living with hearing loss is following a conversation when there's a lot of background noise, like in a busy restaurant. The Phonak EON is designed to help with exactly that, using artificial intelligence (AI) to tell the difference between the voice you're trying to hear and the noise around it, then making that voice clearer. It's the third generation of Phonak's Sphere technology, and this version is noticeably smaller and lighter than the one before it, so it sits more comfortably and discreetly behind your ear. The EON is a rechargeable device that works for people with anything from mild to profound hearing loss, and it's available at our Las Vegas and Henderson offices.

Key Features of the Phonak EON

Here's what the EON offers, explained in plain terms.

  • Spheric Speech Clarity (AI That Focuses on Voices) - This is the EON's core feature: a dedicated AI system that separates the speech you want to hear from background noise and enhances it, so conversations in noisy places are easier to follow.
  • Smaller and Lighter Design - The EON is 25% smaller and 20% lighter than the previous Sphere model, which makes it more comfortable to wear all day and less noticeable to others.
  • AutoSense OS (Automatic Adjustments) - Rather than making you switch settings yourself, the EON automatically senses when you move from a quiet room to a noisy one and adjusts on its own, so you don't have to think about it.
  • WindBlock (Wind Noise Reduction) - If you spend time outdoors, wind hitting the microphones can be distracting; this feature reduces that wind noise while keeping voices and other important sounds clear.
  • Bluetooth Streaming and Hands-Free Calls - The EON connects wirelessly to phones, computers, tablets, and TVs, letting you stream audio directly into your hearing aids and take phone calls hands-free, much like a wireless headset.
  • Auracast™ (Public Venue Sound) - Auracast is a newer technology that lets certain public places, like theaters, airports, and houses of worship, send sound directly to your hearing aids, so you hear announcements or performances more clearly.

What to Expect From Battery Life and Charging

Because the EON is rechargeable, there are no tiny disposable batteries to fumble with. A full charge takes about two and a half hours and gives you more than a full day of use, even if you spend a lot of that time streaming audio or in noisy environments. For patients who travel or are frequently away from an outlet, there's an optional portable charging case with its own built-in battery, so you can top up your hearing aids on the go without needing to plug in.

For patients who rely on assistive listening tools, the EON also works with Phonak's Roger microphones, which a speaker can wear or place on a table to send their voice straight to your hearing aids in difficult listening situations like meetings or classrooms. If you have hearing in only one ear, a companion device called CROS EON can capture sound from your weaker side and pass it to your better ear. We'll talk through which of these options, if any, make sense for you during your appointment.
