Great Things to Hear in Las Vegas This Holiday Season

In the Entertainment Capital of the World, the holiday season is an exciting, extravagant time. With dozens of classic festive musical performances and fabulous parties, Las Vegas has something for everyone. Who needs a white Christmas when you’ve got a beautiful holiday season in the desert?

At Desert Valley Audiology, we are committed to reconnecting you with your loved ones and the sounds in your life. Here are our top picks for events in Las Vegas this holiday season.

The Nutcracker, Nevada Ballet Theater, Smith Center for Performing Arts, Reynolds Hall, December 9-24, 2017

What’s the holiday without The Nutcracker? This whimsical Christmas fairy-tale tells of young Clara and her beloved nutcracker doll. Sneaking down stairs during Christmas Eve, Clara gets wrapped up in a magical adventure with the handsome Prince, encountering toy soldiers, the Mouse King, and other fantastic creatures from exotic lands. The Nevada Ballet Theater’s production includes a cast of nearly 100 dancers, with choreography by James Canfield. The Nutcracker showcases the original music by Peter Ilych Tchaikovsky.

The Nutcracker Wonderland is a bonus experience for families that takes place an hour before showtime of any Nutcracker performance. Take pictures amongst a sparkling winter wonderland set and don’t miss out on the souvenirs at the Nutcracker Boutique.

The Sugar Plum Party is a one-night event following the December 17 performance of The Nutcracker.  Meet Clara, the Nutcracker Prince, and the Sugar Plum Fairy, along with sweet snacks and a special photo. This is a perfect gift for the ballet lover in your life.

Ice Rink at the Cosmopolitan, through January 1

Sure, there’s no white Christmas in the desert, but here in Vegas we can make anything happen! With an Ice Rink open until January 1, The Cosmopolitan transforms into a winter wonderland above the Las Vegas Strip, complete with a light snow fall every 30 minutes!  At 4,200 square feet, The Boulevard Pool is transformed into a huge rink of real ice, complete with seasonal activities such as roasting s’mores by a fire and enjoying seasonal food and beverages. The Ice Rink is surrounded by sparkling lights, getting you in a festive mood. The fire pit requires reservations for groups of 2 guests or more.

On Mondays, enjoy the Date Skate with holiday movies on a 65-foot digital marquee, along with hot cider. Films show at 6pm and 9pm, with holiday favorites such as National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, The Muppet Christmas Carol, Elf, The Santa Clause, Mickey’s Magical Christmas, Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Frozen, and The Polar Express. The Ice Rink features a number of other exciting events, from charity parties to a Christmas tree lighting. For more information, visit The Cosmopolitan website here.
