Great Things to Hear in Las Vegas in February

February brings an exciting slate of events in Las Vegas. With so many diverse things to hear, we’ve collected a selection of our favorite events this month!

Chinese New Year in the Desert (February 8-14)

Chinese New Year, or Tet in Vietnam, or Seol-lal in Korea, is the festive holiday that welcomes spring and a new Lunar Year. This year, Year of the Monkey begins on February 8 on the full moon. For the fifth year in a row, Golden Catalyst presents Chinese New Year in the Desert, a celebration that spans one week and takes place in multiple locations around the city. The Las Vegas Spring Festival Parade takes place on Saturday, February 13 at 11am. Meanwhile, other events include dance performances, culinary lessons, and much more. Cabaret Jazz at the Smith Center

Cabaret Jazz is a jazz club locate at the Smith Center, with performances and ambience that transport you to a true cabaret style experience. This month, catch the legendary, Grammy Award winner Lisa Fischer. Ms. Fischer has toured and recorded with musicians such as Tina Turner, Sting, the Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin, Luther Vandross, and many more. Recently featured in the Oscar winning documentary, Twenty Feet from Stardom, Lisa Fischer is finally on the radar as a solo artist. Singing in the Rain – Las Vegas Philharmonic’s 2016 Annual Gala

On February 19, the Las Vegas Philharmonic holds their annual gala with special guest Patricia Ward Kelly, the wife of the late Gene Kelly. For lovers of music, theatre, and the arts, the gala is a fundraising event that takes place in the lobby of the Smith Center. The event includes cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction, dinner, entertainment, and a live auction, as well as performances. Mrs. Kelly will present an intimate look at Gene Kelly’s life,  and members of the Las Vegas Philharmonic will perform selections from Kelly’s films. Proceeds from the gala will benefit the Symphony as well as their educational initiatives. The Las Vegas Philharmonic also hosts a series of concerts in the Winter/Spring 2016 season. The Bridges of Madison County – Broadway Musical (February 23-28)

February has always been romantic month – in the cold of winter, there is Valentine’s Day. This February, Reynolds Hall presents the two-time Tony Award winning Broadway musical, The Bridges of Madison County. Based on Robert James Waller’s 1992 novel, the story revolves around a Midwestern housewife who has a life-changing romance with a traveling photographer. Over the course of four days, the Italian war bride Francesca’s encounter with photographer Robert unfolds a history of sadness and desire that could change their future. Dr. Timothy Hunsaker attended both undergraduate and graduate school at Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho. During his schooling, he completed clinical rotations at prominent hearing centers across Idaho before relocating to Las Vegas in 2008.

After working at Christensen Hearing Institute for two years, Dr. Hunsaker founded Desert Valley Audiology in 2010, growing it from a solo practice into the thriving multi-location clinic it is today. He holds the CCC-A from ASHA and is fluent in Spanish.
